Top 5 Game Developers

As hard as it was to pick out the top 5 game developers, we have finally managed to come up with a worthy list (after much debate).

We all usually discuss our favorite games. But it’s not often you hear or talk about the developers, the one’s responsible for bringing these games to life.

Today we are going to change that and give them the attention they deserve.

1. Naughty Dog

Not many game developers can match what Naughty Dog have accomplished over the years! Making some of the most memorable, story driven games that have ever been released. Their attention to detail, brilliant storytelling, amazing graphics and the way they manage to make you care about the characters you’re controlling is spectacular to say the least.

They spend a lot of time working on their games, often leading to delays in release (Uncharted: A Thief’s End comes to mind); but it’s because they care. They want to give us a game we can play, enjoy, complete and then immediately replay again. That’s what puts them on top of this list.

Here are some of Naughty Dog’s titles, which if you haven’t played you really should

  1. Crash Bandicoot (PS1)
  2. The Uncharted Series
  3. The Last of Us

2. Rockstar Games

Probably one of the more talked about game developers on this list, due in part to the “controversial” game series Grand Theft Auto. However, when it comes to making a brilliant open-world game with no rules, Rockstar nailed it.

GTA V had absolutely everything going for it a brilliant story, great graphics, a fantastic trio of characters, fun to play missions and side missions and a huge map for you to do just about anything you can come up with. That’s without the massive online gaming community on GTA Online.

Rockstar are another game developer who take their time to release their next game, we are talking years between titles. However, when they’re finally released they are worth every second of the wait. I for one would definitely pick quality over quantity anytime. When it comes to quality Rockstar always manage to deliver.

Here are some of Rockstars games you should check out!

  1. Bully (PS2)
  2. Red Dead Redemption
  3. GTA Series

3. Ubisoft

Making number 3 on our Top 5 Game Developers list is Ubisoft.

Ubisoft have managed to make more than their fair share of excellent game series. Delivering us some of the most beloved franchises throughout the years.

Although the Assassins Creed franchise certainly hit a rough patch recently (we’re looking at you Assassin’s Creed Unity!!), they have managed to pull themselves back up with AC Origins and will hopefully continue with the upcoming release of Odyssey in the next couple of days!

The fact that Ubisoft can create and maintain a constant fan base for multiple franchises across a number of years is an amazing feat. That’s what earns them the Number 3 spot on this list.

Here are some of Ubisoft’s best game series.

  1. Assassin’s Creed
  2. Far Cry
  3. Prince of Persia
  4. Splinter Cell

4. Insomniac Games

Making number 4 on our Top 5 Game Developers list is Insomniac Games.

With the hugely successful release of Spider-Man, Insomniac Games have managed to put themselves on the gaming map and draw in a new fan base across the world. Insomniac have their own style when it comes to creating games, which is exactly why we love them.

They get creative and make fun, new ways to play. For example, the gadgets available in the recent Spider-Man game are so much fun! From exploding web-bombs to electric webbing, they made it so simple to use that every combat challenge is exiting.

That’s why they make number 4 on the list. Insomniac Games are experts in making creative, fun and exciting games to play.

Here are some Insomniac Game titles you should try out!

  1. Spider-Man
  2. Ratchet & Clank
  3. Sunset Overdrive
  4. Spyro

5. Game Freak

Making the final spot on our Top 5 Game Developers list is Game Freak

I think everyone has a special spot for the Pokemon developer. Having been around since our childhood all the way back in 1996, when the first ever Pokemon Game was released for the Game Boy. I still love sitting down on my couch to this day, playing the next Pokemon title on my 3DS and I think it’s something I will do for the rest of my life!

Game Freak is special. Every year they manage to reinvent, update and change themselves with every title they release. Sure, at the core all the games follow the same premise, catch Pokemon, battle gyms (or Island Kahunas) and face the league. But it’s the adventure we all get to go on that changes. Starting over again with a new partner to face new challenges and watching as you grow into one of the strongest trainers in the game. That’s what makes Game Freak special and that’s why it earns the final spot on this list. Thank you Game Freak for all the memories!
