The Last of Us: Part II release date has been revealed, along with a new trailer. Thank you Naughty Dog!
State of Play aired live today online, showing us a slew of new updates for the PlayStation Console. During the event we received updates for Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Death Stranding, Medievil, LA Noire: The VR Files and others.
However, the biggest announcement by far came from Naughty Dog for their upcoming game The Last of Us: Part II. Which, to the celebration of many fans, finally has an official release date!
The Last of Us: Part II release date is set for 21st February 2020 for the PlayStation 4. Not only did we receive a release date but we also got a look at a fresh new trailer. Which if you haven’t see it yet, you really need to!
Naughty Dog’s new trailer gives us a better understanding of the driving force behind Ellie’s actions recently. Furthermore, seeing some old faces again such as Tommy (Joel’s brother) was a welcome surprise. By far, the best part of this trailer (other than the release date) was seeing Joel and Ellie together again.
Neil Druckmann previously stated in an interview with The Verge that The Last of Us: Part II is “a tale born of revenge”, when compared to the previous title. This trailer shows us just that. Hopefully Ellie’s revenge doesn’t end up costing her more of what she loves and cares about. It will be interesting to see how this change in tone develops the story further.
