Game News Rundown – What’s the latest news in the biz?

Hello fellow gamer’s! I know, I know. I have been M.I.A. for a couple of months now. It’s been a while, unfortunately life happened to me and I ended up getting trapped in the claws of ugh….. Reality.

Good news though I’m back! Before you get confused this is not the big game news I will be talking about today. No, no.

I have been scouring the world wide web to bring to you, yes you! A quick rundown of what’s been going on in the gaming biz.

Let’s get to it!

1. The Last of Us Part II – Naughty Dog’s Most Ambitious Title.

Oh boy, it has been quite a while since we have heard anything from Naughty Dog regarding their latest title release The Last of Us Part II. Other than, you know, the apparent “date slip” by Ashley Johnson. Which I am going on the record now saying, she did not accidentally slip anything noteworthy at all.

This latest news actually comes from a recent Push Square interview with Troy Baker (Joel). He has been quoted saying “I can tell you this: it’s hands down the most ambitious game that Naughty Dog has ever done for sure.” Troy then went on to say “It’s far larger than I thought was going to be possible.”

Thanks Troy, for giving us absolutely nothing and I mean nothing to go on.

However, the prospect of the game being far larger than he even anticipated. Does this mean a bigger map? More world to explore? A longer story? Who knows.

Troy then went onto confirm that neither himself or Ashley Johnson know when the release date will actually be.

2. Sony’s PlayStation 4 Sells 100 Million Units

Sony’s popular PS4 console has gone and sold a whopping 100 million units! Thanks to the latest financial data released for the Japanese tech giant, it confirms that the PlayStation 4 has sold just over the astonishing number.

Not only did Sony manage to sell 100 million units of the PlayStation 4. They also managed to sell them faster than it’s Granddad, the PlayStation 2… R.I.P. old buddy.

However, with the release of the upcoming PlayStation 5, we can only imagine sales will begin to stall. Regardless, the PS4 will be going down in history as one of the best selling consoles.

3. Hitman 3 News and Updates!

Hitman 3 is already being talked about and could see development if a recent NoClip documentary is to be believed.

In a recent video Danny O’ Dwyer spoke with developers IO Interactive about the Hitman development process. In the documentary he says that they are  “working on new Hitman content and looking ahead to the third Hitman game.”

IOI CEO Hakan Abrak said “it’s going to be one game with all the locations starting from Paris in Hitman 1 to the last location in Hitman 2, where it’s 20+ locations”.

Just to note, I am in no way saying that the game is currently undergoing development. However, based on this piece of information we could see Hitman 3 release in the future!

You can watch the documentary here.

4. A New Need For Speed Game is Coming This Year.

A new Need for Speed title will be releasing this year, EA has confirmed. However, the recent leak that has been posted out into the twitterverse is completely fake.

The Austrian retailer who posted listings for a Need For Speed Heat game has since been busted by the good people of the inter-webs.

So yes, everything from the cover art (which came from an old update to the mobile title: Need for Speed No Limits) and the logo (from a member of the NFS community) was just barreled together for one big lie.

However, Need for Speed fans need not worry. The actual title will be releasing this year!
